Noto Privacy Policy

Noto is designed with privacy and security as core principles. This Privacy Policy explains how your data is handled when using the app.

1. Information Collection

Noto is a "Zero-Knowledge" application. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal notes, tasks, passwords, or private content to our own servers.

Everything you create remains on your device unless you explicitly enable encrypted cloud backups.

2. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using encrypted Hive databases. This data is isolated within the application sandbox and is not accessible to other apps on your device.

3. Encryption & Security

Noto uses industry-standard AES-256 encryption to protect your data. Your information is encrypted using a key derived from your security PIN.

Without your PIN, the encrypted data cannot be reasonably accessed or interpreted.

4. Google Drive Backups

If you choose to enable Cloud Backup, your encrypted data is uploaded to your personal Google Drive account.

Noto uses the Google Drive drive.file permission scope, meaning the app can only access and manage the specific backup file it creates. Noto cannot access or view any other files stored in your Google Drive.

5. Third-Party Services

Noto uses Google Play Services for authentication and Google Drive integration.

These services may collect information in accordance with Google's own privacy policies. Noto does not use additional third-party analytics providers, advertising SDKs, or tracking services.

6. Permissions Used

Internet

Required for Google Drive backup and synchronization features.

Biometrics

Used locally for secure application unlocking and authentication.

Notifications

Used for reminders and task alerts if enabled by the user.

7. No Analytics or Tracking

Noto does not use:

  • Usage analytics

  • Advertising trackers

  • Behavioral profiling

  • Heatmaps

  • Third-party tracking SDKs

Your interaction with your notes and tasks remains private and unmonitored.
